Vote to REFRESH Des Moines’ Music Scene

The fine people at PEPSI are giving away $1.3 Million of grant money to people, businesses, and non-profits with ideas that will have a positive impact. The Des Moines Music Coalition submitted 80/35 and it was accepted! So now it is up to us to VOTE. Here is the project overview so you can be fully informed.

Project Overview:

80/35 is an annual music festival produced by the non-profit Greater Des Moines Music Coalition and coordinated by over 350 local volunteers. Occurring on the 4th of July weekend, the event brings the best local, regional, and national progressive artists together for one weekend of top-rated entertainment. In addition to the paid festival stage, the event features a large free area featuring local and regional bands, a family and children’s area including a children’s music stage and interactive activities, a green living zone highlighting eco-friendly initiatives, and an area to showcase non-profit organizations and community services. 80/35 also highlights other artistic endeavors including a world renowned sculpture park, live theater and performing art, and an installation by local visual artists. In its third year, 80/35 has become “the” summer event for Midwestern music lovers.

This year I was able to volunteer, which was a ton of fun! Canby and Cashes Rivers were selected to play the KUM & GO stage and friends/family were able to enjoy the free stages, great local, regional and national acts. What I love the most was the organization of this festival…free water bottles and cold water for all! I am so glad to have this festival in my hometown. Please take a few moments to vote for this GREAT IDEA. Let’s keep 80/35 going strong!
