Bright Young Things

Matt Damron, front man of Bright Young Things from Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, said, “We like the 60’s. It was a much more innocent time, when bands like The Beatles and characters like Brian Wilson were “pushing the limits” so to speak. It’s incredible, the amount of thought and work that went in to making some of those records, but they’re still catchy, they still appeal to the common listener and 40 odd years later, we’re still talking about them…”

Bright Young things are compared to “a sugary-sweet, indie version of The Beatles with shades of Wilco” which reflect a simpler time. They don’t need huge distorted amplifiers or screaming vocals to draw the crowd in.

Guitarists and vocalists, Matt Damron and Cameron Lee, are the veteran creative forces behind the band’s lovelorn lyrics and easy listening harmonic tunes on this debut self-titled EP. The talented Scott Andrews plays keyboard, Mark Connor is on bass and Will Goodyear wows the crowd with what has been described as “phenomenal” drumming, making BYT’s impossible to forget.

The Bright Young Things say their Band name came from a 20th century satirical writer, G.K. Chesterton, whose essay poked fun of the “nascent idea of celebrity culture.” But you won’t be able to poke fun at this group. It’s Indie at its best.

Sound like: “The Beatles meet Wilco with sprinkles on top”
